| The designer of an entry can either be an in-house designer of the company, or a freelance designer, or design consultancy developing the design for the company. |

| The DFA Award is presented to companies and designers from around the world that have achieved business success through good design with a notable impact on Asia. It is dedicated to raising awareness amongst businesses and the public about the value of good design as an essential component in business success, as well as for a sustainable, higher quality of life for all. |

| The DFA Award is organised by the Hong Kong Design Centre. |

| The Hong Kong Design Centre has been organising the DFA Award annually since 2003. |

| Up to three best works from each of the 18 categories in Apparel / Accessories Design, Communication Design, Product / Industrial Design, and Environment Design will be awarded the DFA Gold, DFA Silver, and DFA Bronze Awards.
DFA Gold winners from each category plus Invited Entriesi will progress into Grand Award Judging, judged by a prestigious international panel, for the DFA Grand Award, DFA Special Awards for Sustainability, DFA Special Awards for Culture, and DFA Special Awards for Technology.
DFA Gold winners plus Invited Entries1 from Greater China will be competing for DFA Outstanding Design from Greater China Awards.

| Q8 | What should I do if I want to participate at the DFA Award 2008? |
| Entrants should complete the Entry Form and submit a maximum of 10 JPEG images through our on-line submission facility and send us supporting materials such as the physical product, etc. |

| Q9 | What design is qualified for the DFA Award 2008? |
| Designs worldwide that have been commercially launched in one or more Asian markets between 1 January 2006 and 31 July 2008 are qualified for the DFA Award 2008. Designs that are still under development and/or not yet commercially launched do not qualify for participating at the Award. |

| Q10 | Can I send more than one entry? |
| There is no limit to the number of submissions that an entrant can put forward for the DFA Award 2008. |

| Q11 | What are the design categories? |
| There are 18 categories within Apparel / Accessories Design, Communications Design, Product /Industrial Design, and Environment Design. Please click here to find out the 18 categories. |

| Q12 | Can one design be entered under different design categories? |
| Yes. There is no limit on the number of categories per design can enter. The judging panel reserves the right to determine the design category without prior notice. |

| There is registration fee for each competition entry and Exhibition and Catalogue fee for each winning entry. Please click here for details. |

| Q14 | When is the deadline for submission of entries? |
| The deadline for entries is Thrusday 31 July 2008.

| Q15 | Do I need to send the actual design? |
| Yes. Since the Judging will be based on the physical products along with images and other supporting materials, the actual design is required. |

| Q16 | When and how will the First Stage Judging be conducted? |
| The First Stage Judging will be conducted on 14 & 15 August 2008 and will assess the entries based on the information in the entry form, physical products and supporting materials submitted. |

| Q17 | Who are the members of the Judging Panel of the First Stage Judging? |
| The judging panel will consist of design experts from around Asia and representatives from Hong Kong Design Centre, its four founding members and two local educational institutions. |

| Q18 | When will I be informed of the result of the First Stage Judging? |
| The organiser will inform the entries that have been awarded the DFA Gold, DFA Silver, or DFA Bronze Awards by early September 2008. |

| Q19 | When and how will the Grand Award Judging be conducted? |
| The Grand Award Judging will be conducted on 9 & 10 October 2008. The Judging Panel will assess the DFA Gold Award winners from each category with the Invited Entries nominated by the DFA Regional Expert Panel based on their design excellence, influence in Asia and commercial success. |

| Q20 | Who will decide the winners of the DFA Grand Awards? |
| The Grand Award Judging Panel will consist of world-renowned professionals and experts from a variety of business, professional, academic and design disciplines with experience both locally and internationally. |

| Q21 | What do the DFA Grand Award Judging Panel look for in the design entries? |
| Apart from the good design, impact on Asian lifestyle & influence in Asia recognized in the First Stage Judging, the Grand Award Judging Panel will also look at commercial success of the design. |

| Q22 | How many awards will be awarded for each design category? |

| Q23 | When will I be informed of the results of the DFA Grand Awards? |
| The organiser will only inform those entries that have been selected for the DFA Grand Awards by early November 2008. The results of the DFA Award 2008 will be announced during the Business of Design Week 2008 to will be held in mid December 2008 in Hong Kong. |

| Q24 | When and where is the Award Presentation Ceremony? |
| The award presentation will be held at the HKDC Annual Award Gala Dinner in mid December 2008 in Hong Kong. A representative from each winning company will be invited to Hong Kong to participate at the ceremony. |

| Q25 | What is the publicity exposure of the Award? |
| DFA Award winning designs will be announced at the International Press Conference during the Business of Design Week to significant local and international media. |

| Q26 | Can I use the DFA Award 2008 Endorsement Mark if my design wins an award? |
| Yes. The companies and the designers/design consultancies of the winning designs can use the DFA Award Endorsement Mark for Winners for publicity purpose free-of-charge. |
